I didn’t realize how much school was offsetting the weight of (waves hands wildly) *all the things* until I paused for the holidays.
The break was intentional. I love Christmas and really wanted time to enjoy family, reset a little, and prepare for the upcoming year. Sounds great, right?
What I didn’t anticipate was how much of a counterbalance school and studying had been to the heaviness of the news. I’m not doomscrolling. If anything, I’ve been more careful with how I consume it. My work requires me to be informed and honestly, the how I roll anyways. But without the steady rhythm of school, there hasn’t been much to push against the weight of what’s happening in the world.
School has been a constructive place for my attention to land and a pleasant distraction. Not an escape just a more positive place to put my energy.
So even in the thick of the holidays, I’m picking it back up…just more slowly.
A chapter here.
A lesson there.
Enough to rebalance things.
